MITRA SEN Producer Writer Director
Mitra Sen was born in London, England and has lived in USA and Canada. She is a graduate of York University’s Film Production program. Mitra focuses on creating films that share stories of peace and unity. Her first independent production was, ‘just a little red dot…’, a docu-drama which empowers children to challenge racism and shares the message of peace and understanding between people of all backgrounds. The film received 12 international awards and was invited to over 40 film festivals including Roger Ebert’s Film Festivals. Mitra’s second independent film The Peace Tree was invited to over 50 film festivals including Tribeca Film Festival and received 13 international awards including the Liv Ullmann Peace Prize. The film also triggered the proclamation of Peace Tree Day on June 1st by mayors in many cities across Canada including Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax and Vancouver. As a result of the film, Mitra founded Peace Tree International, a non-profit organization that empowers children and youth from different cultures and faiths to create peace and celebrate diversity through the arts, literacy and fusion! Under the Same Sun, shot in Rajasthan India, also carries the message of peace, respect and unity.
ASHISH DAWAR Director of Photography
Ashish Dawar is a Cinematographer based out of Mumbai and LA. He graduated with an MBA(Finance) in 2005 and studied film at Maine Media College (2009), USA. He formed a production house 'Kotloos Media Productions' in 2011 to produce short-format fictional content. His documentary 'Crab-Catchers' was a special jury mention at the Mumbai International Film Festival and Dada Saheb Phalke Festival. He has shot narrative features in various languages. Ashish is currently a cinematography fellow at the prestigious American Film Conservatory in LA.
SANTOSH VASANDI Director of Photography
Santosh Vasandi is a Mumbai based Cinematographer with credits on several internationally acclaimed short films, Indies and documentaries.
CARROLL CHIRAMEL Editor
Carroll was born in Mumbai, India. He started as an assistant film editor in Bollywood before moving to Canada. A film Graduate from Sheridan College, he has edited several short films and feature films such as White Lock, Cut & Fried, Meet the Parents, Goddam Sensitive Man and Under the Same Sun. His works have been showcased at the Toronto Short Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, Milledgeville Film Festival, Amsterdam film festival and the Cannes Short Film Corner to name a few. Working in Indian and Canadian Cinema has helped him inculcate an astute sense of both Indian and international cinema, a blend of which becomes the hallmark of his works. Carroll will shortly take his next step as director and producer.
